I logged into Statcounter.com and was so excited to note that in a little over 3 weeks we have already more than tripled the number of first time visitors to her site.
OK, I know we’re not talking thousands of visitors yet. But 18-54 in 3 weeks in a big jump for a coaching website. This is a tough niche to crack!
This client came to me after an awful experience with a VA who shall remain nameless. Let’s just say that the VA in question started with an excellent template with tidy functional code, butchered it and then stopped answering my client’s emails.
When I first started work on the site, I dug through all the code, cleared out all the “unnecessarys” and put the images back in order. I fixed the mismatched backgrounds, repaired broken links and brought the font sizes and colors all back to what was dictated by the CSS file. When I was finished the site was a thing of beauty. Phase I – Check!
For Phase II I implemented some of the tips and tricks I have picked up about on SEO and web development as a virtual assistant. Small things like; meta tags, wisely chosen keywords, use of keywords in the site content, proper use of alt tags and image tags, and various other small tweaks. None of these were big changes and aside from the aesthetics, we didn’t do any major overhauls. In fact, the work we completed on the optimization portion of this website was less than half of this client’s 10 hour retainer — around 4 hours!
We’re not completely there just yet. Our final aim is to have my client showing up in the top 5 pages of search results for her carefully chosen keywords, but I am so excited about the excellent results we’re already seeing.
