Deirdre Shockley
Deirdre is wife to Tim and mother to 3 wonderful children, enjoys Bible study, quilting, crocheting and genealogy. She makes her own bread and enjoys growing herbs and vegetables.
She has over 20 years experience working in various office settings. Her extensive background began as a child answering the phone for her father’s paperhanging/painting business. From there she moved very easily into the public sector never batting an eye. She has worked in a pharmacy, physician’s office, Hospice, state government agencies, church offices and more.
While working in those settings she took advantage of every training opportunity, including desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Training programs, as well as several other programs. She had the privilege to design forms, publicity materials, trainer presentations, newsletters, bulletins, and many other word processing projects. She increased her working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs by creating many databases along with reports, charts, queries, and spreadsheets for the Kentucky Department for Mental Health and the Cabinet for Family and Children.
She has also coordinated meetings, events, trainings, and special appreciation programs from the beginning to the end, including, travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, meeting space, registration, materials for attendees, PowerPoint presentations, meals, and refreshments.
Deirdre is an active member of several networking groups including: Virtual Assistant Networking Association, Alliance for Virtual Business, and Virtual Assistant Forums. By participating in these groups she keeps her skills up to date through the training provided by each group. She is also a volunteer for the 3rd annual Online International Virtual Assistant Convention (OIVAC).
